The fastest route inside a game
Every game has a Send feedback link on its end screen. It takes a thumbs up or thumbs down, an optional note, and sends it straight to a private inbox. It needs no account and no email address, and it arrives with the version of the game you were playing — which makes a bug report much easier to act on. If you are reporting something that broke during play, that box is the quickest way.
Use email instead if you want a reply, or if you are writing about something other than the game you just finished.
What is genuinely useful to report
- A wrong fact in Stack Rank. Every ranking theme lists its source and the year the figures are from. If a value is out of date or simply wrong, say which block and where the correct figure comes from. These get fixed quickly, because a trivia game that gets its facts wrong is worthless.
- A link in Connecthing that nobody would accept. Connecthing works by connecting two things through a chain of words, and every link has to feel obvious in hindsight. If one of them made you stop and think "that is a stretch", name the two words and it will be reviewed.
- A word that should be in the game but is not. Type it as a guess and the game records that it did not know it; you can also email it. Missing everyday words get added, which is why the list keeps growing.
- A broken puzzle. A bomb whose target cannot be typed, a chess position with no solution, a ranking that contradicts itself, a word game with no possible route. Include the daily number if you can see it, or the date.
- Something that does not work on your device. Phone model, browser, and what happened. Layout problems on a small screen are worth knowing about.
Other reasons to write
- Press, newsletters and round-ups. Screenshots, a description and a logo are available on request. Say which game and which deadline you are working to.
- Game portals and publishers. The endless modes can be licensed or embedded. Mention the platform and what you need technically.
- Translations. The games are in English only. If you want to translate one into your language, write and say which.
- Accessibility. Type to Defuse has a colour-blind mode for its ink-check module, and every game is playable with a keyboard. If something is still unusable for you, that is a bug and worth reporting.
- Advertising and sponsorship. Use the same address. The current list of companies allowed to sell ads on this site is in ads.txt.
What not to send
There is no interest in paid link placement, guest posts, "SEO packages", or offers to buy the domain. Those messages are deleted unread. Please also do not send personal details through a game's feedback box: it is deliberately anonymous, and anything typed into it is stored as-is.
Privacy of what you send
Emails are read by Dicksen and nobody else. Feedback sent from inside a game is stored without any name or address attached and cannot be traced back to you. Both are covered in more detail on the privacy page.
